by Adriana Diaconescu Interview with Dani Bozaru (INDRA) Natha Yoga Center and Logos Magazine invite you to The Pyramid Concert on July 16th, from 20:00, a unique and special music event that will take place in the wonderful area of Stevns Klint.
This event will give you the chance to dive into the mysterious world of spiritual music performed by the Danish group IBIS and the Romanian artist INDRA. We interviewed the Romanian artist Dani Bozaru (Indra), who has been practicing yoga for 20 years and who is also a yoga teacher in Romania. First of all, what or who is Indra? According to Hindu mythology, Indra is the God of War and Weather, also the King of the Gods or Devas and Lord of Heaven or Svargaloka in Hinduism. Although to many westerners a Hindu God may seem to be something ancient that you read about in a book, when it comes to God’s mysterious ways of manifestation, even ancient myths come to life. Adriana: Please tell us, from your perspective, how do you integrate music with spirituality and how do you express it? Dani: I (and I am not the only one) consider music to be the most elevated form of arts. Because I am close to it, I worked in different ways to amplify my resonance with music and to refine the understanding and expression of superior music. Because of this, what I compose – I believe electronic music to be the most adequate style to give high states of consciousness to the human being, so what I compose is according to a resonating cosmic structure and it respects certain cosmic laws, such as the law of 7, the law of 3, as well as certain specific elements from superior musical knowledge manifested through the pentatonic Hindu scale. Integrated in my personal style of electronic music, these elements have the common aim throughout all of my music to create the state of trance, at different levels and with different characteristics, in the being that listens to this music. From this perspective, I want to specify that certain eastern influences like musical motives, as well as the adequate use of rhythm and a certain knowledge in this respect are able to trigger in the these types of states of trance in the being that simply cannot be ignored, especially if that being listens to the respective track again and again. Together with yoga and spiritual practice, this kind of artistic contribution is rather important for the future and it is fulfilling for the human being’s evolution.
Adriana: How did you start to do music? Do you have any music training? Or you have been simply attracted to it? Dani: Strangely enough, I do not have specific music training and I consider myself very fortunate, because this lack of training has given me complete freedom to be inspired and to compose. To a certain extent I studied the theoretical elements by myself, as they are necessary in order avoid fundamental mistakes. Otherwise, especially when I started to make electronic music in 1993, I have been strongly influenced by some other producers of electronic music, one of them being Klaus Schulze. This influence mainly regards the music style and certain tones, but not the musical idea, or the melodicity or rhythm of the tracks. It might seem that I lack modesty, but what I compose seems to me more structured and better arranged, more consistent and from certain aspects, more elevated then some of Schulze’s tracks. He has certain ups and downs and this shows a certain lack of consistency. Adriana: So basically, in music you started from 0 and in time you’ve reached a very high level… Dani: Well, I attended the Popular Art School for 6 months – the drums section, and I used to play guitar and drums with different bands in Bucharest. But in 1990 I decided to focus on electronic music – keyboard instruments, synthesizers and other specific technological modules. In order to make good quality electronic music and to reach the purpose I have specified, the technology used needs to be up to date, very high performance. Although it has been difficult, I have succeeded to attain this. Adriana: To what extent has the guidance you received from your spiritual master helped you to come to this point and compose such inspired music? Dani: It is very important to say that in the music that I make and between the music I make and the influence of the great God INDRA there is a big and strong connection, clearly specified by my spiritual guide, Grieg. He had also offered me the ways to be able to develop this aspect, at the request of the great God INDRA. It is also important to say that I myself faced the appearance of the God INDRA, in one of the saddhanas I did 10 years ago, in 1998. This element is and can appear overwhelming to a person, and indeed it had major importance, because it confirmed the resonance with the leader or lord of the realm of Gods, which is INDRA, as well as the help, grace and inspiration he offers me each time I compose this music. He said he is willing to help human kind during these difficult times it is going through, on the condition that people relate to him. The easiest way to do this is through the music I make. In this way, they can easily become convinced of his help and his grace, which will soon be bestowed upon all of manifestation. It is important to mention this, because INDRA appeared to Grieg in a meditation and told him: “This is the thing to do, I want to do it through this man” – which was me… He first came to me 1998, in my meditation room… Later on, Grieg sent me a recorded message in which he specified all these aspects and he told me what to do to fulfill this. Ever since... The music composed by INDRA is uplifting, stopping the mind and taking one to the inner core of one’s being, to a universe of light and inner freedom. Meeting Dani Bozaru, the man behind the music, and hearing him speak about his music and his inspiration source was a big revelation for me … because as a person he radiates the same inner freedom he expresses through his music. This article is also an invitation for you to come to the concert and experience Indra for yourself.
