The first day of the International Yoga Congress started at 11.00 with the opening ceremony, which included a short show by the theatre group Sophrozin (well known and appreciated for their shows which promote spiritual initiating art) and a movie presentation of MISA yoga school and its spiritual activities. The opening ceremony was followed by a series of conferences and workshops on different spiritual subjects.

In the workshop about “The secret power of Mudras”, by Gabriela Ambarus and Savel Calinescu, the participants learned the importance of specific gestures used to channel and imprint energy within their aura in a particular. Later, Mihai Stoian, the leader of Natha Yoga Center, held a conference about the true Secret as it is not described in the famous movie “The secret”. In this conference we saw that the emphasis in this movie is on an attitude of consumption of the individual. He made the point that the individual in the modern world takes the biblical saying “Ask and you shall receive” in a selfish way, without integrating the other biblical saying “Give and you shall be given”. Another conference that emphasized the importance of the inner spiritual attitude in daily life nowadays in society was held by Andrei Gamulea. Called “Social integration and spiritual practice – the beneficial challenge of our times”, it showed how worldly life can be part of the path.
The workshop held by Johanes Suronata, from Finland, about the Mysteries of the glorious androgenic state revealed to the audience the meaning of the divine spark within each one of us – the divine perfection. To attain the state of androgyny means to reach that point where duality does not exist anymore, where plus and minus, or yin and yang become balanced, thus two become one unity – perfection.
The workshop held by Martin Svensson and Celestine Andersen – “Awakening and controlling the senses – a spiritual modality in tantric practice”– was received by the audience with enthusiasm and joy and many of the participants succeeded very easily and quickly to have direct experiences of the soul through the senses, confirming the efficiency of the techniques they presented.

In the conference about “The Law of Cause and Effect in the light of the yoga system”,Ileana Stefanescu from the Traditional Yoga Academy in the USA presented how we can make sure we always receive the best for us by giving the best of us in the first of all, and how we can stop accumulating karma by applying the simple techniques taught in our yoga school such as: the consecration of the fruits of our actions, the transfiguration of ourselves and of our actions, as well as of the others around us, and also the art of blessing.
One of the most inspiring conferences was the one by Angelina Hunefeld, from the German branch of MISA about karma yoga – the yoga of action. This form of yoga is not very familiar to westerners, therefore it is often misunderstood. Giving examples and showing pictures from the karma yoga activities that take place at the German Academy of Traditional Yoga. Angelina gave a very clear view of how the inner process of transformation of one individual, from ego-centeredness to the awakening of the soul, is highly amplified through karma yoga, as one surrenders his own individual will to the divine will, aiming to act with an inner state of detachment from the results and fruits of one’s actions.

This is just a brief summary of only a few of the conferences and workshops that took place yesterday, in the first day of the congress. There is more to come in future articles which will reflect tomorrow’s main focus: “The Contest for Promoting Spiritual Values”.
